How identity theft causes a tremendous ordeal for anyone, well as you are about to find out that's what happened to me. On a hot day in June I was invited over to a very close friends house for dinner. When I got there they asked if I was kind enough and go to the local grocery store to pick up a few ingredients that were forgotten. To no hesitation I headed out the door and drove out of the driveway with the store as my destination.
I drove down the street, up to the stop sign when I noticed a Police Officer right behind me. I was not concerned for the simple reason that I knew I wasn't violating any laws. I continued to drive towards the store paying no mind to the Police car. In just a flash of a second he turns on his lights pulling me over on the side of the road. When the Official came to my driver door I asked the reason for being pulled over he said for an outstanding warrant.
Unbelievable, the thought could not fashion what the Officer said, so he repeated it to me twice and it still made no sense. I was told to step out of the vehicle, he then proceeded to read my rights and I was put into the back seat of the Police car. When he showed me the screen with all my information except my real name was used as an alias, my driver's license number was on there, plus my social security number as well. After all the related details of my personal information the two things that were different was the height and the name of the person which stole my identity.
It's extreme how identity theft can darken the brightest day for anyone. It sure did for me; I was in such a shock that life seemed surreal. I repeatedly asked myself why was I in such a mess like this and remembered of my wallet being stolen over a year ago from my SUV. The outstanding warrant was issued in Arizona for a violation, mind you that I reside in Tampa, FL and my only travels have been up the East Coast only.
They even tried to ship me out to Arizona over this Identity theft problem, it had me completely stressed. Well, after a very long stressful night in jail they kept trying to send me to a state that I had never been to. I caught a break in the whole ordeal; my fingerprints were the reason that they cleared me and let me go.
I tell you that even when I got home I could not believe that I went through such a stressful situation. It was a situation that I would never wish upon no one to go through, think about how identity theft can affect you.
